Overview

Aurecon contracted Shamrock Civil Engineering to complete the road rehabilitation and drainage works at Lachlan Wilson Drive (LWD) and Robert Towns Boulevard (RTB) at Lavarack Barracks, Townsville. Shamrock Civil Engineering was later awarded additional works on Melton Black Drive (MBD).

Scope of works
  • Removal / demolition of civil drainage
  • Supply and installation of culverts/pipes and drainage
  • Earthworks excavation and subgrade treatments
  • Supply and lay unbound, concrete, stabilised and asphalt pavements including 14,070m2 of 50mm AC replacement with 714m2 mastertop 330 concrete break testing area on LWD & RTB, 12,800m2 of 260mm insitu Stabilised 3% cement (UCS >2.0MPA) completed during day works on RTB, and 6,456m2 of 180mm insitu Stabilised 3% cement (UCS >2.0MPA) completed during night works on MBD
  • Supply and installation 2,200m2 of interlocking concrete pavers in two intersections
  • Apply sprayed bituminous surfacing
  • Supply and installation of road furniture ad pavement markings
  • Installation of road lighting including electrical conduits and pits
  • Clean out apron upstream and downstream of culverts
  • Rectify scour with 750mm dia rock to match existing drain profile
Achievements

The additional works on Melton Black Drive were completed during night works, which increased productivity. The project was completed on time and LTI / MTI free.
