The Nuriootpa Landfill Capping project consisted of remediation of an old Cleanaway landfill site. This saw Shamrock Civil carry out bulk earthworks to cap the existing landfill site, as well as reshaping of the site to ensure that appropriate drainage is in place for surface water run-off during the rehabilitation period, to meet the EPA requirements and guidelines.

Scope of Work

  • 150,000 m3 of cut to fill to reshape the entire site and improve drainage
  • Construction of 2km of perimeter swale drains, and other drainage elements including diversion bunds and rock mattresses
  • Installation of stormwater culverts
  • Approximately 1.5kms of access roads and internal pavements
  • Installation of skip bin laydown pad
  • Installation of perimeter fencing and rectification of damaged existing fencing
  • Placement and spreading of gypsum

Project Complications & Achievements

Shamrock Civil placed high importance on local engagement for this project and utilized subcontractors locally within Nuriootpa and the immediate surrounding areas to assist in completing the majority of the works. Utilizing our plant for a short period of time ,Shamrock Civil restored the council access road to a drivable condition to improve access for Cleanaway vehicles and local residents. The project was incident free for its entire duration, equating to 20,270 manhours incident free.
