CLIENT: Queensland Urban Utilities
VALUE: $1 million – $5 million
DURATION: Jun 2012 – AugĀ 2013
Shamrock Civil Engineering has been appointed by Queensland Urban Utilities to construct a new 290metre water main along Brisbane Street in the Ipswich CBD. Works are occurring between the top of the Ipswich Mall and Wharf Street. The existing line is very fragile in areas and has recently burst a number of times, therefore the upgrade is essential to ensure the Ipswich CBD is provided with a reliable water supply.
The sub-contract comprised of the following major activities:
- Installation of 140m of 355mm fusion weld HDPE trunk water main.
- Micro-tunneling to install 100m of 610mm steel pipe encasing 355mm HDPE pipe
- Installation of 50m of 300mm diameter DICL water main
All the works were carried out on a busy section of road in the Ipswich CBD including 2 major intersections and the pedestrian mall. To minimise the impact on local businesses and the community the works are being completed in stages with all major works taking place at night.
