Overview
Shamrock Civil Engineering was awarded the construction of Cell 4B2 at Melbourne Regional Landfill for Cleanaway Solid Waste Pty Ltd. Cell 4B2 involved the construction of a new landfill cell adjacent to the existing operating landfill facility in Ravenhall, Melbourne.
Scope of works
- 6,540m3 subgrade excavation and 50,000m3 subgrade filling
- Placement of 35,000m3 compacted clay liner
- Installation of geosynthetic lining system including 65,000m2 of Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL); 65,000m2 of HDPE Geomembrane; 130,000m2 Protection Geotextile (Cushion) and 65,000m2 Separation Geotextile. Reinforcing on Batters. Protective drainage soils on batters
- Supply and installation of Leachate Collection System including 1,650 lm of pipe and sump risers – 110mm/160mm dia, 20lm of 450mm diameter pipe, 2,000m3 of protection soils
- Installation of 17,000 m3 of drainage aggregate
Achievements
At the request of Cleanaway, Shamrock Civil accelerated the construction program multiple times, with tight deadlines successfully met. Shamrock Civil also provided works and services in other areas of the site to assist operations and help improve the site. Shamrock Civil successfully delivered this project with zero LTIs.
