Description: Shamrock Civil was engaged by Queensland Urban Utilities for the rehabilitation of sewer works at Mt Gravatt and Wavell Heights in Brisbane.
The project team adhered to environmental controls whilst managing a sewer diversion in a live sewer line within a creek.
The Mt Gravatt scope of works included:
  • Tree clearing and removal;
  • Demolition and plugging of existing sewer line and manholes;
  • Management and implementation of live sewer diversion;
  • Supply and installation of 173m of 1m diameter new sewer (93m of pipe jacking 1m diameter vitrified clay pipes by laser guided micro-tunnelling technology and 80m of trench and lay 1m diameter PE pipe);
  • Damming and diversion of Bulimba Creek;
  • Installation of 30m of sewer and concrete encasement protection in creek;
  • 8m diameter concrete manholes;
  • Bank reshaping works and rock scour protection of creek bed; and
The Wavell Heights scope of works included:
  • Tree clearing and removal;
  • Management and implementation of live sewer diversion;
  • 30m concrete sewer encasement protection of existing sewer line within creek;
  • Underpinning and protection of live asset;
  • Damming and diversion of Kedron brook;
  • Bank reshaping works and rock scour protection of creek bed
All environmental management targets were achieved including sediment and erosion controls. Strong performance and excellent relationships with the client ensured future works with Queensland Urban Utilities.
