Shamrock Civil Engineering was contracted by Yancoal to carry out the cell 1 rectification works at Cameby Downs Mine.

Scope of Work

  • Maintenance of existing tracks
  • Stripping and stock piling of unsuitable materials from existing embankment downstream face
  • Stripping of unsuitable materials from the embankment footprint to nominal depth below the natural ground surface
  • Material conditioning within borrow pit area
  • Borrow fill placement on 3:1 batters including:
  • Tyne, water, compact and proof roll loose material
  • Lightly scarifying, ensuring sufficient overlap
  • Picking up of 200-250mm of conditioned material from borrow pit
  • Placement of 150mm layer of loose conditioned material onembankment wall and progressively cut into existing slope with aminimum 300mm high stepped bench
  • Keeping area moist whilst compacting and rolling, until the area reached compacted to a maximum layer of 200mm
  • Final Trimming of Embankment
  • Supply and installation of vertical continuous sand drain and horizontalfinger sand drains
  • Supply and installation of 20mm clean rock toe drainage, 200mm dia. slotted uPVC pipe to perimeter toe drain and end finger drains
  • Supply and installation of 2m Dia. X 2.5m (H) precast concrete manholes forseepage collection
