The aim of this project was to provide build, test & integration facilities and infrastructure at the Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct. The project build comprised of 3 separate buildings: CSPIF (combat systems platform integration facility), PLBTF (platform land based test facility) and H.V Building. The project build recognised the plan to deliver a rolling acquisition of submarines, a continuous build program of major surface combatants and a continuous build program of minor naval vessels.

Scope of Work

  • Site clearing 11,725m²
  • Earthworks to subgrade 11,725m²
  • Supply and place of 10,831m² of asphalt
  • Supply and place of 894m² of concrete pavements
  • Supply and lay 1,221lm of RC storm water infrastructure (225dia up to 525dia)
  • Supply and lay 1,640lm of PVC underground roof water system
  • Excavate and backfill 163m of electrical infrastructure
  • Excavate and backfill 2,610m of combined service trench (fire, water, gas, sewer)
  • Supply and installation of stormwater pits, oil & water separators, GPT’s
  • Supply and install of road furniture (security bollards, bike racks, wheel stops)

Project Complications & Achievements

Precast of all security pole footing and light pole footing to minimize disruption onsite during installation, reduced duration by casting footings off site and installing on delivery.- Collaborated with the client to prepare a site wide civil program to facilitate interface with other building trades, program was adopted for the works. Successful project interface to allow timely access to all site-based trades.
