Shamrock Civil were engaged to undertake various construction and maintenance works to Coast Road, the adjacent causeway, traverse mound and Magazine Road. The works consisted of new pavement construction, rehabilitation of existing pavements, stabilization and sealing. Works carried out also included erosion and protection in the form of rock armor retaining walls and a geo binder spray to traverse mounds.

Scope of Work

The scope of work was made up of 3 separate packages, each containing very different elements
Rip, tyne and  re-sheet 18.5km of Coast Road
Supply and install of erosion control to existing protective mounds
Cement treated pavement stabilization and 14/7mm 2 coat seal to Magazine Road
Causeway repair, demolition of in-ground structures and supply and place of rock armor retaining wall

 

Notable Project Achievements

Supply and placed 54,000m³ of PM2/20
Rip, tyne and shape 114,000m² of existing pavement
Maintain and construction of 18.5Km of swale drains

Project Complications & Achievements

SCE presented a construction methodology for pavement placement which allowed for the pavement thickness to be increased thus reducing the amount of time onsite and minimizing plant movement. Shamrock Civil were able to recycle lose and granular material onsite to minimize dumping fees, reduce the amount of material removed from the existing road and maximizing remnant pavement material left onsite.
