Overview

Shamrock Civil Engineering was awarded the contract to complete the civil works for the Compound and Parking Bay Extension at the Townsville Lavarack Barracks. This project consisted primarily of two separate activities within the Base.

Scope of works

1RAR & 2RAR PMV Parking Bays:

  • Earthworks preparation including site clearing and stripping of topsoil
  • Road excavation including culvert, pipe and conduit trenches
  • Subgrade treatment Type A in cuttings and in embankments and backfill
  • Supply and place concrete Joint Reinforced Base (32MPa)
  • Supply and install underground electrical conduits and pits
  • Footing excavations and install holding down bolt assembly & reinforcement
  • Supply and install structural steel

CTC Compound Extension:

  • Removal and replacement of culverts, kerb and channel
  • Pavement drainage and subsurface drainage
  • Hand placed concrete paving, footpaths and bikeways
  • Earthworks preparation including site clearing and stripping of topsoil
  • Road excavation including culvert, pipe and conduit trenches
  • Landscape and revegetation works
  • Stabilised pavements and subgrades
  • Supply & place Joint Reinforced Base (32MPa) incl SL92 reinforcement
  • Alterations to existing stormwater structures
  • Supply and install footings inclusive of hold down bolts and reinforcing
  • Install roadside structures including fencing, gates and bollard
  • Supply and install underground electrical conduits and pits
Achievements

Shamrock Civil Engineering completed the project with zero LTI’s and MTI’s recorded. Department of Defence commended Shamrock Civil Engineering for the successful delivery of this project with minimal variations.
