CLIENT: Lendlease Building
VALUE: $30 million
DURATION: August 2016 – August 2019

Shamrock Civil were contracted by Lend Lease to undertake the civil & bulk earthworks for the Lavarack Barracks Townsville LAND 121 project. The project involved the preparation of groundworks, building platforms and civil infrastructure for the construction of new buildings and support facilities for the LAND121 vehicles.

Scope of works
  • Site Establishment
  • Erosion and sediment controls
  • Demolition of existing pavements and building slabs 76,574m2 of materials
  • PFAS ground contamination removal
  • Clearing and grubbing of the work zones of approximately 228,916m2
  • Earthworks – Bulk excavation and fill to subgrade level, place, trim and compact
  • Pavement constructions of approx. 44,228m2
  • Block paving pavements of approx. 84,980m2
  • Installation of drainage infrastructure including stormwater pipes, culvert and pipe installations, open drains, kerb and channeling
  • Installation of new and relocation of inground services including: Fire hydrant pipes, Water, Sewer, Electrical and Communications
  • Concrete works including footpaths and base slabs
  • Installation of road furniture

Shamrock Civil planned and designed the erosion and sediment controls and temporary drainage systems so that in an event the project site was not inundated with storm water.
Due to contamination issues, Shamrock Civil proposed a pavement design that reduced the amount of cut by bringing the pavement level higher. This resulted in a smaller amount of contaminated material that needed to be treated.
